RFID Production Management Solution for
International Engine Component Overhaul Pte Ltd (IECO)

The main objective of IECO’s core business is the repair and overhaul of the Rolls-Royce Trent and RB211 Nozzle Guide Vanes and Compressor Stators. IECO used to track the WIP (Work in Progress) manually on a Kanban, which was not up-to-date and mistakes occurred easily. With the Kanban RFID Information System (KRIS) established by Singcomm, IECO is able to improve productivity and efficiency by 20%.

The RFID technology allows the tracking of movement which updates the location of the bins through the connected servers, 100% traceability and the improvement of work efficiency (ie. the unnecessary searching of parts).

A RFID bin tag is attached to each of the containers to make tracking easier. A Kanban tag is then attached to the ground. The Kanban tags will send out a signal to the system when containers with the bin tag attached enter the location. This will allow the location of the containers to be known. The process is entirely automatic because it is synchronized to the whole system.

In addition, the system enables simulations with current materials to work out any possible delays during transport.
